In response to growing demand for a glass
specific Active title, Active Magazines has announced the
launch of www.glassactive.co.uk. The website will feature all
the latest news, products and case studies relating to glass
used in construction.
The main focus will be glazing products
supplied to manufacturers and suppliers of insulated glass
units and construction glazing materials. John Cowie, Editorial
Director of Active Magazines, believes it is important for the
Active brand to encompass glazing: “We cover on a regular
basis the subject of glazing in Windows Active. A large
proportion of Windows Active’s readers are heavily
involved in the installation and purchasing of glazing related
items. However, to be able to cover this wide subject area on a
regular basis it is important we provide readers with a
dedicated media for glass related issues.”
Window Energy Ratings (WERs) are becoming
more and more important in the window industry. Despite the
delay of the Home Improvement Packs, there is no doubt that the
Government will continue its plans to improve the energy
efficiency of UK homes. Householders are being actively
encouraged to improve the energy rating of their properties and
the window industry has major part to play in this process.
Window retailers are starting to realize
the potential of offering energy rated windows. In response to
this, Windows Active has launched a bi-monthly listing of all A
to C rated windows manufactured in PVC-U, aluminium and wood.
John Cowie, Editorial Director of Windows
Active, believes it is imperative that installers are informed
of were they can buy energy rated frames: “There is a
huge potential for installers to take advantage of the
UK’s drive for greater energy efficiency. By publishing
the list of manufacturers of rated frames, installers will be
able to identify potential window suppliers.”
KBE Windows Systems recently co-sponsored
with Active Magazines, the English Phantoms Hockey Club tour of
Malta. The trip saw the team beat the national Maltese
champions Rabat Depiro 4-3. KBE Window Systems donated club
ties for the 22 man squad, while Active Magazines provided the
playing shirts. KBE provides PVC-U systems to a worldwide
customer base, including a window fabricator in Malta.
Editor of Windows Active and English
Phantoms captain John Cowie was delighted with the outcome of
the tour: “Prior to our trip the team was slightly
apprehensive as to the quality of the opposition. Rabat Depiro
had just been promoted to the European Club Champions Cup
Challenge Division One and were eager to face foreign
opposition in preperation for the 2007 championships. KBE
kindly donated our club ties and this helped in creating a
professional team image. The game itself was fiercely fought
and we were delighted to come away with a victory.”
Making its third successive appearance at
Glassex 2007, Windows Active returned from the NEC with very
positive feedback from visitors to the company’s stand.
The show gave the team at the leading magazine for fabricators
and installers the chance to meet a high number of key industry
decision makers.
Steve Gravestock, Sales Director, commented:
“With a large number of key players not exhibiting at
the show it gave the key decision makers within these
organizations the chance to attend Glassex as visitors. Many of
these individuals took time out of their busy day to visit the
Windows Active stand to discuss industry issues and future
marketing and promotional plans. We were also able to
demonstrate a number of new products we have launched,
including Housing Active – a magazine targeting all those
involved in the building, repair and maintenance of social
housing.”
Windows Active magazine will be returning
to Glassex for the third consecutive year. This year the
magazine for all those involved in the manufacture and
installation of windows, doors and conservatories will be
joined by sister title Housing Active. A new launch from the
team at Active Magazines, Housing Active targets all those
involved in the building, repair and maintenance of social
housing.
Windows Active will also be demonstrating
the new upgrades to its revolutionary interactive version of
the magazine. Visitors to stand D035 will also be able to hear
about the new ‘Active Blogs’ initiative. John
Cowie, Editorial Director at Windows Active, is looking forward
to the show: “Glassex has always been very important to
Windows Active. It provides us with a unique platform to engage
with readers and advertisers. It is important for those
involved in the window, door and conservatory sector to support
Glassex as it represents a very useful annual marketplace for
products and services.”
A new print and interactive magazine
targeting those involved in the building, repair and
maintenance of social housing in the UK has been launched by
Active Magazines. Housing Active is an exciting new journal
that takes the same format as the marketing leading magazine
Windows Active.
The editorial profile is unlike other
magazines in the social housing sector. Each issue provides
readers with an informative mix of news from housing
associations, building material suppliers and policy makers.
Edited by experienced editor Jackie Simpson, the journal
includes regular features such as ‘In the Papers’
and ‘Project Focus’.
Editor Jackie Simpson is excited by the
scope of the magazine: “The current move to provide
decent homes in the UK has created a number of opportunities
for building contractors and social housing providers. We aim
to deliver an essential read for all those professionals
engaged in the building, repair and maintenance of social
housing.”
Publishers of interactive and print media
for the window industry, Windows Active, have introduced a new
revolutionary method of delivering news to readers. Active
Blogs bring readers video footage of the latest products and
company profiles from the window industry.
Each month Windows Active will present a
number of short videos produced from editorial visits.
Available at www.activeblogs.co.uk and through the website
www.windowsactive.co.uk, the videos show factory visits,
product demonstrations and the latest magazine preview by
Editor John Cowie.
John is excited by the latest development:
“The introduction of Active Blogs is a further
enhancement of the service we offer readers and advertisers.
Video is becoming ever more popular in society and when you
consider the success of websites like ‘YouTube’,
there is no doubt this trend with transfer in to the
business-to-business sector. We are currently developing with
our interactive partner to extend video footage into the pages
of the interactive version of Windows Active.”
Windows Active has confirmed its attendance
at Glassex 2007, the leading exhibition for those involved in
the installation and fabrication of windows, doors and
conservatories.
Sales Director at Windows Active, Steve
Gravestock, believes it is important to support the
industry’s only dedicated exhibition: “We have
always supported Glassex, it is imperative that we maintain
this support. It offers us a fantastic opportunity to meet and
great readers and advertiser clients. For the industry as a
whole, the show offers a showcase for all the new innovation
and enables installers and fabricators to link up with their
suppliers.”
The print and interactive magazine for the
window industry, Windows Active, has just announced its
features list for 2007. New features for 2007 include Website
and Internet Marketing, Energy Efficiency and Materials
Handing.
John Cowie, Editorial Director, believes it
is important to identify new areas of interest: “Each
time we develop a new features list it is important to cover
new and emerging sectors of the market. The three major
developments in the window industry over the last 12 months
have to be energy efficiency, internet marketing and composite
doors. For this reason we have introduced a number of features
that we hope will prove interesting to readers.”
The new and existing features are joined
each month by popular regulars such as: director of the month;
fabricator spotlight; said and done and campaign focus. The
magazine also focuses on all the latest news, products,
contracts and appointments from the window industry. To obtain
a copy of the features list please download from the home page
or send an email to: john.cowie@windowactive.co.uk.
Windows Active has teamed up with the
developer of it’s interactive magazine to produce a
number of new and improved features. Using the revolutionary
and new Ceros software, Windows Active has been able to provide
readers with a host of new features. Readers can take full
advantage of the technology the CDE provides by carrying out
contextual, Google-style text searches. A valuable research and
information tool, the CDE remembers past searches and stores
them for future reference by the reader.
Articles of specific interest can be
extracted with the 'box zoom' feature. Magnifying the content
within its own scrollable panel, the tool enables the user to
read specific articles without having to navigate the CDE
content. The user experience is further enhanced with the 'save
clippings' and 'send to a friend' functions.
A hugely practical research and archive
tool, the 'Save Clippings' function enables readers to store
articles extracted using the 'box zoom' feature. The Ceros
system recognizes the reader so saved clippings remain
accessible regardless of how many times the CDE is launched.
As the name suggests, this function enables
CDE readers to send articles of interest to chosen individuals.
Used in conjunction with the 'box zoom' feature, the recipient
receives a link to the relevant content along with whatever
special text the sender specified.
Editorial Director of Window Active John
Cowie commented: “The interactive version of Windows
Active has given us the opportunity to deliver something
different in a congested market. We are always looking for ways
to develop our products, and have been able to enhance the
interactive products with the introduction of Ceros software.
Readers can now benefit from a very useful ‘Google’
style search function and the ability to email colleagues
articles of interest. Month on month we are seeing more and
more readers opting to view Windows Active
interactively.”
Following the success of the interactive
version of Windows Active, publisher Active Magazines will be
producing a Summer 2006 Update of the magazine. Produced using
the new and revolutionary Ceros software, the issue will
feature an editorial only content bringing readers all the news
and viewed from the summer months.
Editorial Director John Cowie commented:
“After the publication of the July/August issue it was
always important for us to keep readers up to date with the
news from the market. This gave us the opportunity to
officially launch the interactive version with the new
software. There is no doubt if we can achieve the usual high
readership figures with the Summer Update, we will produce a
similar version in the winter.”
The leading magazine targeting all those
involved in the manufacture and installation of windows, doors
and conservatories has added to its sales team. Corinne Hancock
has joined as Classified Sales and Production Manager and will
work across a number of titles including Windows Active.
Sales Director Steve Gravestock commented:
“I have worked with Corinne for a number of years and am
delighted she has joined the team at Active Magazines. She has
vast experience in the production side of publishing and this
will be invaluable when she tackles the classified sales side
of the magazine.”
In another appointment Active Magazines has
also managed to secure the services of internet expert Anna
Redman, who will head up the interactive side of the business.
Windows Active, the interactive and print
magazine, is reporting an increase in its online readership.
The interactive version of the magazine that targets all those
involved in the manufacturing and installation of windows,
doors and conservatories is gaining more readers by the month.
Using revolutionary software, unlike other
web-based magazines Windows Active reads and looks like a
normal A4 print magazine, but is viewed in a web browser.
Editor John Cowie commented: “Since its launch in January
we have received a very positive response from the market.
Readers have particularly liked the interactive advert and
editorial links. The reader can simply click on the web or
email address of the particular item and then be re-directed to
the requested website or send an email.”
